On 15 November 2018, the Aluminum Architecture Prize 2018 was awarded in the Palace of Justice in Vienna. The winner is wiesflecker-architekten with the extension and functional renovation of the higher federal educational institute for tourism in St. Johann, Tirol.

The particular challenge here was to create a three-dimensionally shaped sunshade that continues in its shape in the balcony railing underneath. Using a specially developed waveform for this project by the company Binder Parametric Metal, the design concept of the architects was implemented with a perforated, polished stainless steel sheet.
Good cooperation between architects, builders and metal construction / surface finishing companies
The prize of the CTM brand ALU-FENSTER was awarded by the Aluminum Window Institute (AFI) in cooperation with the Austrian Architecture Foundation and IG Architektur, and stands for the good cooperation between architects and building owners with system providers, metal construction and surface finishing companies.
A total of 28 submissions were presented to the expert jury.
